Placenta encapsulation is the process of cleaning, steaming, dehydrating, and grinding your placenta into a fine powder that is then placed into easy-to-swallow capsules. These capsules are taken postpartum like a daily supplement to support your body's natural recovery after birth.

Many moms report benefits including improved mood and energy levels, reduced risk of postpartum depression, better hormone balance, increased breast milk supply, and faster physical recovery after birth. While formal research is still growing, the anecdotal support from thousands of postpartum moms worldwide is powerful. As always, we encourage you to discuss it with your healthcare provider.

Yes — when performed by a trained specialist following strict sanitation and food safety protocols, placenta encapsulation is widely regarded as safe. I follow OSHA bloodborne pathogen standards, use food-grade sterilized equipment, and only process one placenta at a time to eliminate any risk of cross-contamination.
-
I recommend booking during your second trimester or early third trimester. This gives us time to connect, answer your questions, prepare your paperwork, and ensure I am on call and ready when your baby arrives. Spots are limited — don't wait until the third trimester to reach out!
-
I only ever process one placenta at a time. Your placenta is labeled with your name from pickup through every stage of processing. There is zero possibility of a mix-up. Your capsules come from your placenta — period.
-
Bring a small cooler with ice to the hospital — most hospitals will provide a bag for the placenta. Once you notify me that baby has arrived, I will coordinate a pickup time directly from the hospital or your home. I pick up 7 days a week between 8AM–7PM. Check out our Tulsa Hospital Policies page for specific release requirements at each local hospital.

Can I still encapsulate if I tested positive for Group B Strep (GBS)? In most cases, yes. GBS is a common bacterium and all bacteria — including GBS — are eliminated during the steaming and dehydration process when temperatures reach the required food-safe levels. However, if you developed a uterine infection or fever during labor, encapsulation would not be recommended. Please disclose any infections or complications at booking so we can advise you properly.
-
You will receive your finished capsules within 3-5 days of pickup. If your placenta was frozen, processing may take slightly longer due to thaw time. I will keep you updated every step of the way.
-
If your full placenta is sent to pathology and exposed to chemicals like formaldehyde, it can no longer be safely encapsulated. However, you can advocate for yourself before delivery by asking your provider to take only a small sample for testing rather than the entire placenta. Check our Tulsa Hospital Policies guide and our "Before You Deliver" page for tips on how to self-advocate confidently.
-
All sales are final once your placenta has been picked up and processing has begun. Refunds are only issued in the following circumstances: the placenta is deemed unsafe to encapsulate upon pickup, or a medical situation arises that prevents encapsulation entirely. In these cases, a refund will be issued minus a $50 non-refundable deposit. Cancellations made before pickup may be eligible for a partial refund at my discretion. No refunds will be issued for completed services or delivered products. Please email Ebony@8twenty8.llc within 7 days of your delivery date with any concerns.
